Today's cars can drive themselves in and out of parking bays completely unassisted -- conveniently controlled from the curb using a smartphone. This is possible due to the remote function of the Automatic Park Assist from Bosch. Thanks to this innovation, parking bays that are so tight drivers barely have enough space to open their car doors won't be a problem for much longer. The driver will simply get out of the car in front of the parking bay, open the Bosch app on his cell phone, and press and hold a button to start the parking maneuver. The vehicle will then maneuver itself into -- and back out of -- the parking bay without anyone at the wheel. To abort the parking maneuver, the driver simply releases the button.Automatic Park Assist is likely to be available from 2015 and is an enhancement of the Bosch parking assistant that has been on the market since 2008.
