a few tips for welding a root pass in a 6 inch 6g pipe with 6010 electrode.
Fitup is as important as any welding technique so pay attention to getting as good a fit as possible. 75-100 amps is the range listed by the uc-28 spec sheet I read. I found that about 80 amps worked ok provided I used a 3/32" gap and heavy 3/32" land.
