An important core technology for automated driving is reliable and precise detection of the vehicle's surroundings. As the vehicle has to move independently in real traffic, it must be able to detect all relevant road users around the vehicle (360°), and reliably assign the correct lane. To do so, every section of the vehicle is monitored by multiple sensors with differing measuring principles.
